This week we hosted one of our favorite kinds of events: a brand activation pottery workshop with Subset, who brought about 20 creators and influencers to our Williamsburg studio for an afternoon of hand-building. A brand activation pottery workshop is a private, hands-on clay class hosted at an event space, where every guest builds and decorates a real ceramic piece the brand's team fires and delivers afterward. At Subset's event, guests settled in at our long tables with aprons, fresh clay, and tools, and chose what to make: a jewelry dish, a cup, or a plate. Once the pieces were shaped, everyone decorated them with underglaze transfers — colorful printed designs that press onto the raw clay and come out of the kiln looking hand-painted. It's beginner-friendly, wonderfully tactile, and it photographs beautifully — which is exactly why brands love it for creator events.

The best part happens after everyone goes home: we fire and finish every piece, so about two weeks later each guest receives a real, food-safe ceramic they made themselves. A brand event that ends with a branded moment living on someone's shelf is a rare thing.

Guests hand-build one piece each — most groups choose between jewelry dishes, cups, plates, mugs, or pet bowls — and no pottery experience is needed. How much does a private pottery workshop in Brooklyn cost?

Private pottery workshops at Bat Haus start at $125 per person, with tiered rates for larger groups ($115 per person for 11–15 guests, $95 for 16 or more), and include everything: clay, tools, aprons, guided instruction, underglaze decoration, firing and finishing, setup and cleanup, and the reservation of our space. Sessions run about two hours, and we host groups from 4 to 40 guests. There's no separate venue rental fee for workshop parties — the space is part of the package.
